Early emerging butterflies on chalk reserves like grizzled and dingy skipper. Breckland birds and flowers. Large red damselflies are on the wing. Still plenty to see in our ancient woodlands at the start of the month, like herb paris and lilly of the valley. Reedbeds will be full of the sound of reed and sedge warblers. On the Heaths, nightjar will return by the middle of the month and nightingales will be singing.
